  • people feel that the buildings along the high street are not in a good condition, well kept or attractive.
  • people felt that there were not enough bins on the high street to dispose of litter.

The masterplan proposes the following - do you feel these solutions will address the priorities outlined above?

New/improved crossings and traffic calming measures along Pennine Way, Grampian Way and Lothian Way to give priority to pedestrians and cyclists and slow down traffic.
New designated cycle lanes to improve the cycling/walking environment and promote green travel options such as cycling and walking.
Opportunity to establish a new community hub and cycle hire café to activate the shopping centre and engage with adjacent play area.
Opportunity to utilise underused spaces, including community allotments and family area with street furniture.
Opportunity to enhance the existing play area with attractive planting and street furniture.
Improved pavement and public realm infrastructure including bench seating
New wayfinding features that signpost key facilities and green spaces nearby.
Potential to engage the local community to co-create wayfinding, public art and street furniture strategy.
Enhance the shopping centre public realm with new street trees, planters, lighting and street furniture (including bins), improving retail spill-out environment and attracting new local enterprises.
Potential to free up the shopping centre car park (during weekends) as a flexible community square for pop-up events, such as markets, cycle training sessions and other community festivals.
