Pickering Park Water Play Area

The paddling pool is a much-loved feature of Pickering Park.

Unfortunately, due to health and safety concerns, the decision was made to not open the pool over the summer last year, and it has remained closed to public use this year.

The site is in need of refurbishment due to its age, and some underlying issues with the drainage and surface condition.

This gives us the opportunity to look at different opportunities for the future.

Development plans are in the very early stages, however there are a number of options which could be considered for the redevelopment.

These include the site remaining as a paddling pool, with improved drainage and filtration.

Other plans could see the site converted into a new splash pad to align with the City’s other water play sites, such as Bude Park - which is due to open this summer.
