Which of the following best describes you? (Choose any one option)

Phase one research

Previous research for this project has identified the following as priorities for the local area -

  • people felt that vehicles were not well parked around the high street (issues included blocking access or parking on pavements).
  • people feel that the buildings along the high street are not in a good condition, well kept or attractive.
  • people feel that the high street is not kept clean and free from litter.
  • people would welcome more outdoor communal spaces to sit and meet friends to eat and drink.
  • people felt that the pavements were not in a good condition.
  • people would welcome more community pop up events.

The masterplan proposes the following - do you feel these solutions will address the priorities outlined above?

Potential to improve the roundabout and surrounding underused green spaces through the introduction of sustainable drainage and planting enhancement. This will also contribute to improving biodiversity in the area.
Introduce designated cycle lanes and where possible, new greening and sustainable drainage areas to improve air quality, environment for pedestrians and pavement user and encourage green travel option such as cycling and walking.
Introduce greening and street trees along Hessle Road, eliminate some street parking spaces to create ‘parklets’, new seating areas and signage.
Include new wayfinding features that celebrate Gipsyville’s local industrial heritage, signposting the gateways to the local centre.
Opportunity to include the community in the co-creation of wayfinding public art and street furniture strategy.
Enhance crossing environments to give priority to pedestrians and cyclists. This includes implementing traffic calming measures along Hessle Road to promote green travel options such as cycling and walking in safety.
Enhance the high street public realm with new street trees, planters, lighting and street furniture (including bins), improving retail spill-out environment and attracting new local enterprises.
Potential to include artistic murals on closed shutters to animate the streetscene, particularly during daytime when many existing shops are closed.
Would you support delivery of additional housing in the local area if opportunities arose.
